Mwenda Njoka, a veteran investigative journalist and former government administrator, has been appointed Group Managing Director and CEO of Cape Media, which owns TV47 and Radio 47.
While presenting him at the headquarters in Muthaiga North, Nairobi, Cape Media board Chairman and Founder Professor Simon N. Gicharu stated that Mwenda will play an important role in guiding Cape Media to its full potential.
“The Board is confident that his qualifications and experience will be instrumental in guiding Cape Media towards achieving its full potential. We are delighted to welcome Mr. Njoka and congratulate him on his appointment as CEO.” Gicharu said.
“His proven leadership and deep understanding of the media landscape make him ideally suited to steer TV47, Radio47, and our related media platforms towards becoming leading media outlets in Kenya and beyond telling untold stories and tapping youthful talents by promoting the Cape Media Talent Academy.” Gicharu, an emerging media mogul added.
Mwenda brings a wealth of experience, having distinguished himself in the Kenyan media landscape for over 30 years.
He also served as the Director of Communications at the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government.
Before his appointment, Mwenda served as the CEO of the Government Press and Government Printer of the Republic of Kenya.
He also boasts an impressive career in journalism, having held senior management positions in both print and electronic media outlets across the country.
During his tenure with the Standard Media Group, he served as Managing Editor and Associate Editor, garnering recognition as both Kenya Journalist of the Year and Investigative Journalist of the Year.
