NTSA Announces Multi-Agency License Revalidation for Motor Vehicle Dealers

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced a comprehensive license revalidation exercise targeting tow truck owners, motor vehicle dealers, and repairers across Kenya. The exercise aims to verify compliance with traffic regulations and ensure that all operators adhere to industry standards.

According to NTSA, the revalidation initiative, scheduled to run from November 11 to November 22, 2024, will involve a multi-agency team inspecting the premises of operators to confirm the accuracy of submitted details and check compliance with established regulations. This process is part of NTSA’s broader effort to streamline the industry and enhance safety and accountability among motor vehicle service providers.

“Through this Public Notice, the Authority informs all tow truck owners, motor vehicle dealers [new and second-hand], and repairers of motor vehicles of a multi-agency license revalidation exercise scheduled from 11th to 22nd November 2024,” read the NTSA statement.

To participate in the exercise, all operators are required to fill out and submit an online license revalidation form available on the NTSA website (www.ntsa.go.ke). The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Operators who fail to comply with the registration process or who do not meet the required standards during the inspection risk facing penalties, including possible suspension of their operating licenses.

As part of the revalidation, a multi-agency team will carry out physical inspections of premises to verify the submitted details and ensure compliance with safety and operational guidelines. This exercise comes in the wake of recent actions by the NTSA, including the suspension of operating licenses for 121 Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators who were found to be in violation of traffic rules.

NTSA’s decision to undertake this revalidation follows growing concerns over safety on Kenyan roads and the need for stricter regulation of motor vehicle dealers, repairers, and service providers. The Authority’s initiative highlights its commitment to maintaining high standards within the sector, thereby enhancing safety for all road users.

For further information on the license revalidation exercise, operators are encouraged to visit the NTSA website or reach out to the NTSA customer service team.
