The main suspect in the murder of women whose bodies were found dumped at a quarry in the Kware area of Embakasi has been arrested.
The Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin said the 33-year-old Collins Khalisia was arrested after a forensic analysis on a suspected victim Josephine Owino was conducted.
According to the DCI director, Collins was arrested outside a club in Kayole where he had gone to watch the Euro finals before taking the detectives to his rented house in Kware a hundred meters from the crime scene.
Amin said a raid on the suspect’s house led to the recovery of ten mobile phones (with eight being smartphones), a laptop, seven identity cards, hard drive, two flash disks, twenty-four sim cards, a machete, gloves, four huge clear tapes, Two pink female pants, reflector jacket, two title deeds, a note book, assorted items, a pink handbag and twelve sacks similar to those found with bodies at the dump site and ropes.
“We have this morning arrested the prime suspect in the murder of people whose bodies have been found dumped in the Kware area. The arrest was led by a joint operation by the NPS and DCI officers.” Amin stated.
The DCI boss said the suspect had confessed to killing 42 women and disposed of their bodies at the dumpsite within two years.
He said that the bodies were all murdered between 2022 (his wife) and as recently as July 11, 2024.
So far two women from the bodies recovered at the quarry including that of Josephine have been identified.
Josephine went missing on June 26 when the mobile transaction occurred while the second victim went missing on June 28.
Details indicate that Josephine’s sister said she received a call from a man who told her he was with the victim.
She did not go back home. Her body was found stuffed in a sack at the dump site.
The process of identifying the other victims is ongoing.
An autopsy is planned on the bodies at the City Mortuary today even as teams go on with the search of the decapitated bodies at the dump site.
