Nine private security companies have had their certificate of registration and licenses canceled by the Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) over contravention of set guidelines and regulations.
A gazette notice dated February 5, 2024, indicated that the PSRA CEO Fazul Mahamed stated that the nine companies were blacklisted for breaching the four regulations under the guidelines of the Private Security Regulatory Act No. 13 of 2016.
He noted that the nine were found to have breached the provisions of the aforesaid Act and also violated the terms and conditions attached to their certificates of registration as corporate private security service providers.
“Under section 10(c) 31(b) and 32 of the Private Security Act (13)2016 we notify users of the immediate cancellations of the certification and licenses of the following companies: Victory Protective Services Africa Limited, Victory Consultants Limited, Bedrock Security Services Limited, Bedrock Security Alarms Systems and Product Limited, Senaca East Africa Limited, Hipora Security Solutions Limited, Salama Fikira International (Kenya) Limited, Marco Security Limited, and Superb Marketing Solutions Limited on the ground that they breached Private Security Act No 13 of 2016, they failed to comply with the minimum wage requirement, failed to comply with section 33 of the Act having employed security officers without officers without guard force numbers as proof of registration by authority and they failed to comply with the terms and conditions on the certificates of registration.” The notice by Fazul stated.
Fazul added that PRSA is determined to ensure professionalism in the sector. “We are determined to ensure professionalism, fair remuneration for the 1.3 Million Private Security Officers, and the ultimate growth of the private security industry in the country,” Fazul said.
He warned citizens seeking private security services from engaging the companies, further announcing that the authority shall be conducting periodic reviews of the compliance status of Private Security Companies.
The regulatory authority added that they will be doing a review periodically to check the compliance of the various companies.
