Several properties belonging to Kenya Kwanza MPs have reportedly been vandalized and looted during nationwide protests that have brought the country to a standstill.

Reports indicate that homes, businesses, and properties of MPs who voted in favor of the controversial Finance Bill 2024 have been targeted by angry protesters.

Oscar Sudi’s Eldoret-based club was among the first to be attacked. Protesters reportedly stoned the club’s windows and destroyed the gate to Timber XO club, looting expensive alcoholic drinks.

Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah’s office in Kikuyu Sub-County was also vandalized and torched. Protesters accused him of betrayal for supporting the Finance Bill.

In Nyeri, residents stormed Chyeni supermarket, owned by area MP Njoroge Wainaina, in response to his vote for the bill. They looted items from the supermarket and later set part of it on fire.

Kuria Kimani, the Molo MP and Chairman of the Finance Committee, also faced backlash as his home in Molo was invaded and torched by constituents.

These incidents reflect the widespread discontent among Kenyans against MPs who supported the Finance Bill, which is now awaiting assent by President William Ruto.
