Relief for Motorists as Super Petrol and Diesel Prices Decrease

Motorists across Kenya can anticipate some financial respite as the Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a significant reduction in the prices of Super Petrol and Diesel in its latest monthly price review.

In a statement released on Thursday, EPRA disclosed that the price of Super Petrol will decrease by Ksh.7.21, while Diesel will see a reduction of Ksh.5.09 per litre. Additionally, Kerosene prices will decrease by Ksh.4.49.

Following this review, the new prices per litre in Nairobi will stand at Ksh.199.15 for Super Petrol, Ksh.190.38 for Diesel, and Ksh.188.74 for Kerosene.

These adjustments are slated to take effect from midnight on March 15th and will remain valid until April 14th, 2024.

EPRA clarified that the prices include the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT), adhering to the provisions outlined in the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020, and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.

This welcomed decrease in fuel prices offers a momentary reprieve for motorists amid economic challenges, potentially alleviating some of the financial burdens associated with transportation costs.
