Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged Kenyan nationals residing in South Africa to spearhead the promotion of locally manufactured goods in the country.
Gachagua emphasized that, in collaboration with High Commission representatives, they play a crucial role in expanding the market for products to benefit local farmers.
Addressing a gathering in Sandton, Johannesburg where he met with members of the Kenya Diaspora Association of South Africa (KEDASA), the Gachagua expressed the government’s willingness to collaborate with overseas citizens in showcasing domestic goods.
“I urge you to endorse our coffee and tea offerings here. Our coffee is exceptional, and as entrepreneurs here, you may want to consider importing the coffee beans and roasting them locally. Additionally, we have high-quality tea and avocado products,”he remarked.
He commended Kenyans in the diaspora for enhancing the country’s reputation through their strong work ethic and conduct.
“You all serve as our representatives. Maintain exemplary behavior, uphold a positive reputation, and demonstrate strong work ethics, as we are globally recognized for our diligence,”he emphasized.
Also in attendance at the meeting were High Commissioner to South Africa Jane Ndurumo, KEDASA Chairman Bernard Maina, and officials Pastor William Muchina, Pastor Moffat Andaji, Simon Wakaba, and Mahat Salat.
The Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua engaged with Kenyan nationals following his participation in the inauguration of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for his second term on Wednesday.
He stood in for President William Ruto at the ceremony held at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
