Siaya: Benjamin Agina resigns as director of Communication for Orengo

Veteran journalist Benjamin Agina has resigned as the director of communication for the governor of Siaya.

Agina tendered his resignation earlier this morning.

“I have indeed resigned.” Agina told a local journalist without divulging more details.

He was appointed in October last year by Governor James Orengo alongside former government spokesman Cyrus Oguna among other nominees in a letter to the public service board.

“I have nominated for appointment the following persons to serve in my office with immediate effect in the specified positions subject to the conduct of suitability tests.” Orengo said while making the appointments.

He also directed the chair of the board to issue the nominees with letters of appointment on successful completion of the relevant process.

Agina holds an MA in International Journalism from the University of Leeds.

His LinkedIn page indicates he is a government relations expert, Regional partnerships specialist, and PR & communications strategist.

He has over 30 years of experience in strategic leadership, global partnership, government relations, diplomatic corporations, strategic communications, crisis management and community engagement.

Previously, he was a political advisor at the British High Commission from July 2103-April 2017.
