Siaya Governor James Orengo has called for President William Ruto to resign, citing widespread public anger against the Kenya Kwanza government.
Orengo argues that if President Ruto were attuned to the people’s sentiments, he would step down, as Kenyans are fed up with the current administration.
Speaking in Bondo, Governor Orengo stated that the entire Kenya Kwanza government has failed the country and should vacate office.
He expressed concern that following the scrapping of the unpopular 2024 Finance Bill after deadly nationwide protests, Kenya will face tough economic times ahead.
Governor James Orengo noted that government services are likely to decrease significantly.
President Ruto, during a media roundtable at State House Nairobi, painted a bleak picture of the country’s future, stating that the rejection of the Finance Bill means Kenya will need to borrow at least Ksh 1.2 trillion this year to keep the government operational.
President Ruto warned that dropping the Finance Bill would prevent the government from confirming 46,000 junior secondary school teachers on a permanent and pensionable basis, among other challenges.
