Six Approved for Nairobi Chief Officer Positions in a Special Sitting

Nairobi County Assembly has approved the names of six persons vetted for the positions of chief officers for various sectors.

In a special sitting called on Tuesday afternoon by Speaker Kennedy Ng’ondi, six out of seven vetted officers were approved.

The chairperson for Planning committee Alvin Palapala said they faced some technical problems that made them unable to have the report before the special sitting on Thursday.

Former Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Muia Kiala was approved for the chief officer position boroughs and subcounty administration while the former Women Rep for Baringo Gladwell Cheruiyot got the agriculture chief officer position.

Kenyan politician and the former State House Director of Political Affairs Machel Waikenda was vetted and approved for the economic affairs docket.

Waikenda is also the former Kiambu County executive committee member for youths and sports.

Jane Wangui takes over as the chief officer markets and trade while Amina Mohammed is the new chief officer for wellness, nutrition and school feeding program.

President William Ruto’s ardent supporter and former Nairobi Senator aspirant David Sande takes over the chief officer digital economy and start-ups office.

The appointment of Halkano Waqo, the former Nairobi Chief Officer for Finance, remains pending for the position of Chief Officer for Planning until the committee finalizes its report.
