The State Department for Correctional Services has intensified its fight against corruption by partnering with key anti-graft agencies.
This move is part of the department’s strategy to eliminate corruption and improve transparency in its operations.
Principal Secretary Dr. Salome M. Beacco, while receiving a system review report on Probation and Aftercare Service (PACS) from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), stated that the report provides crucial insights for tackling corruption.
Dr. Beacco emphasized that this effort is part of a broader plan to ensure integrity and efficiency within the department.
The report, developed by the EACC, offers recommendations on mitigating corruption and enhancing transparency in the management of public resources. Dr. Beacco commended the EACC’s ongoing efforts to fight graft, noting that these initiatives have significantly contributed to improving integrity in public service.
EACC Vice Chairperson Dr. Monica Muiru stressed the importance of personal responsibility in addressing corruption, urging individuals to take active steps in curbing graft.
She highlighted that the fight against corruption is a collective responsibility that requires involvement from all sectors of society.
Additionally, the PS acknowledged the valuable support from the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in compiling the report.
Their involvement underscores the importance of international collaboration in addressing corruption challenges.
