Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen will be available tonight for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semifinals against South Africa.

This has been confirmed by the Super Eagles team.

Osimhen suffered an injury during their last match at the quarter-finals against Angola which forced their manager Jose Peseiro to sub him in the late stages of the match.

Super Eagles won one nil in the tight match in the 41st minute of the match courtesy of Ademola Lookman.

This marked their 16th appearance in the AFCON semis which they have qualified twenty times since its inaugural.

“Victor Osimhen has been declared fit and available for selection in the semifinal clash against South Africa on Wednesday. He has joined the team in Bouake and has trained with the squad today.” The team spokesperson stated.

There was doubt about the Napoli striker making an appearance in the semifinal match after he missed flying with the Super Eagles team for training on Monday.

Peseiro had told the press on Tuesday that the fitness of the player would be confirmed before the end of the day.

The 25-year-old has been outstanding for the Super Eagles at the tournament despite only scoring one goal, in their opening 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea.

Super Eagles game against Bafana Bafana will be a repeat of the 2000 semifinal in Lagos where the Super Eagles won 2-0.

They won the last three of their ACON tiles in 2013 while Bafana Bafana last won the title in 1996.

In the second semifinal match, the host nation Ivory Coast (The Elephant) will take on DR Congo in the semifinal for a slot in the finals.
