The Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) Kenya has expressed deep concern over a suspected food poisoning incident at Paradiso PAG Church in Luanda Township Ward.

The tragic event, which occurred during a church function, has claimed the lives of two church members and left 46 others hospitalized at Emuhaya Sub-County Hospital.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, Rev. Bishop Kenneth Adiara Mbalanya, the General Superintendent of PAG Kenya, extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased.

“My heartfelt condolences to the families of two of our church members who have so far passed on. May their souls rest in peace,” he said.

Bishop Mbalanya visited the hospital where the affected individuals are receiving treatment and confirmed they are recuperating.

The church has called on authorities to launch a thorough investigation to uncover the cause of the incident.

“We urge the relevant authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into this cruel incident. We remain hopeful that the findings will help prevent such tragedies in the future,” Bishop Mbalanya added.

The PAG Kenya leadership has appealed to its congregants to remain calm as health and security agencies probe the matter. In the meantime, Bishop Mbalanya extended prayers and well-wishes to those still hospitalized.

“I take this early opportunity to wish those in hospital a quick recovery and the Lord’s healing,” he said.

The incident has cast a somber mood over the church community, which continues to pray for healing and comfort for those affected.

Further updates on the investigation are expected in the coming today.
