Leading African financial services provider, Zamara, marked its 30th anniversary today, commemorating three decades of growth and innovation across Africa’s financial landscape.
From its beginnings as a small actuarial firm in 1994, Zamara has expanded into a multinational corporation with operations spanning seven African countries and the UAE.
In a keynote speech at the event, Zamara CEO Sundeep Raichura highlighted the company’s evolution and its accomplishments in Africa’s financial sector. “The last 30 years have been an exciting journey,” Raichura said. “We’ve grown from a small team with big dreams to a regional African champion and an established multinational.”
Zamara has solidified its place as a pioneering force in financial services, offering tailored solutions for over 800 corporate clients and 200,000 individual members. Notably, Zamara recently received the 2024 Think Business Insurance Award for “The Best Insurance Broker” and became the first company in Africa to secure Quality Assurance Scheme (QAS) accreditation from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. This distinction cements Zamara’s status as one of Africa’s foremost actuarial hubs outside of South Africa.
Among Zamara’s major achievements are its client-centered innovations, particularly in the pension and insurance sectors. The company launched the continent’s first WhatsApp-enabled pension solution, allowing users to manage retirement planning through messaging technology.
It also introduced self-service portals for pensions and insurance, providing clients with more flexibility and convenience. Through its Zamara Angaza initiative, the firm has invested in financial literacy for young people, aiming to educate students in primary and secondary schools on financial planning and security.
Looking forward, Zamara’s plans include expanding further into Africa and the Middle East, enhancing digital capabilities to meet the growing demands of a changing market. Guided by values of Simplicity, Empathy, and Trust, the company remains committed to creating a financially secure future for its clients.
“We are driven by a vision of financial empowerment and prosperity,” said Raichura, emphasizing Zamara’s dedication to transforming the financial services sector in Africa and beyond.
