A middle-aged man has been jailed for 30 years in prison by the Magistrate’s court in Busia after he was found guilty of defiling a five-year-old girl.
Busia Resident Magistrate Eunice Serem handed Silvester Wandera the jail term, ruling that the prosecution had proved the case.
Four witnesses testified against the accused who is said to have defiled the minor and even infected her with a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI).
“The Prosecution presented a total of 4 witnesses who informed the Court that the accused defiled the child in a cassava plantation and subsequently infected the child with a Sexually Transmitted Infection.” The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said.
