A driver of a lorry and a passenger of Embassava bus lost their lives today in the Syokimau area along Nairobi-Mombasa Highway after a lorry rammed into the bus.
According to the Police said the accident occurred after the lorry rammed into the bus from behind pushing it into a ditch.
Confirming the incident, Athi River South subcounty police commander Jos Mudavadi said at the two people died on the spot in the incident.
Mudavadi said the accident involved a lorry and a passenger bus belonging to the Embasava Sacco.
Both the vehicles, according to the police, were moving from Nairobi general direction towards Mombasa general direction when the accident occurred.
Several other passengers sustained injuries in the incident.
Traffic officers from Athi River police station responded to the scene and cleared it.
The bodies were removed to the mortuary while injured victims were rushed to hospitals.
The wreckage was towed to Athi River police station awaiting inspection.
