Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has called for an urgent investigation into the illegal subdivision of Plot 817 at Nyayo Embakasi Estate, which was originally set aside for the construction of public educational facilities.

The land, meant for a secondary school and a primary school, has allegedly been illegally allocated to private individuals, compromising Nairobi’s already strained public education infrastructure.

Alai, who is a former chairman of the Nyayo Embakasi Residents Association, strongly condemned the illegal land dealings, stating that they violate the Constitution of Kenya and land management laws.

He emphasized that public land must be managed for the benefit of the people, in accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution, the Land Act (2012), and the Public Land Management Act.

Alai also pointed to potential involvement by local leaders, including Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, in facilitating the land grab.

In his statement, Alai called for investigations by the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), the National Land Commission (NLC), and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to uncover any unethical conduct and restore the land for its original public use.

He urged for decisive action to protect public resources and address Nairobi’s critical need for public schools.
