Nairobi Assembly Sails through Supplementary Budget for FY 2023/2024

The Nairobi County Assembly has unanimously passed the supplementary budget for the financial year 2023/2024.

As the heavy downpour wreak havoc, the budget and appropriation committee has allocated Ksh.240 million to combat the effects.

The chairperson of the budget and appropriation committee Wilfred Odalo who is the Mabatini Ward representative rubbished the rumours going round on social media about Ksh.10 billion allocated to a few law firms.

“Let me be categorical and state that what is being spread on social media that the county is set to pay 10 law firms Ksh. 10 billion is untrue. We have allocated Ksh. 80 million for legal fees,” Odalo told Journalists at City Hall on Wednesday.

Odalo said passing the budget culminates the adoption of the appropriation Bill on Thursday and implementation by the county executive.

Key sectors such as ward development fund, bursary, health, and agriculture have also been factored into the Supplementary budget to ensure a comprehensive approach to city development and welfare.

A detailed breakdown of the allocations reveals Sh120 million designated for bursaries to support education, Sh100 million for road infrastructure improvements, and Sh300 million for effective garbage collection within the city.
