Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has built a house for the family of his late friend Salim Abdalla Kiuza, a year after his demise.
According to the ex-senator, the friend who died after a long battle of Cancer had requested him to build a shelter for his family after he was long gone.
Omar said that he had promised his friend that he would mobolize their friends to ensure they support his family.
“What towered Salim was the well-being of his children in his absence. He talked of their well-being in general, a roof over their head. I promised to mobilize our friends to mobilize and ensure his family’s well-being.” Omar said.
However, Omar said though he had indicated to his wife that they he would mobolize friends to do it, the two agreed to do it as a family.
He indicated that it took them almost six months to complete the house which they officially handed over to the family at the start of May, 2024.
“My wife and I decided to build the house by ourselves and by the end of November 2023 we began and we are lucky to have handed it over at the start of May, 2024.” He said.
He further revealed that the late friend while still alive had doubted him of deliverying the promise as politicians fail adding that he delivered it considering the type of friend the late was to him.
Salim and Omar were close allies in the 2022 elections as he vied for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat for Bofu ward in Likoni under the UDA ticket as Omar vyied for the gubernatorial seat.
The duo failed but the late was the chairman for UDA MCAs aspirants forum and he braved the cancer battle all through the electioneering period.
