Six fatally injured in early morning accident near Narok

Six people have lost their lives while seven others receiving treatment at Narok Cottage Hospital, where they was rushed by good samaritans after a fatal road accident about three kilometres from Narok town.
The accident occured after a head-on collision between two vehicles which were involved in the accident had a head-on collision at the Silanga area along the Mulot-Narok highway, police said.
“The accident involved a Toyota Sienta car travelling towards Mulot and a Subaru Forester car travelling towards Narok.” The police report read in part.
The driver of the Subaru was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it rammed head-on into the Toyota Sienta, which was travelling in the opposite direction.
As a result, the driver of the Toyota Sienta and its five occupants were killed instantly.
The driver of the Subaru was taken to Cottage Hospital where he is being treated for chest pains.
The bodies of the victims were taken from the scene to Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary.
The wreckage of both vehicles was towed to Narok Police Station following the fatal accident.
Confirming the incident, Narok Sub County Police Commander John Momanyi said that six people had died and seven were hospitalised.
“The identities of the victims have not been confirmed due to the nature of the accident and we are awaiting confirmation from their relatives.” Momanyi said.
“We are gathering information on the accident and should be able to give an update later today.” He added.
