Three in Police Custody for Purportedly Stealing Government’s Fertilizer

Amid escalating thefts of subsidized fertilizer from National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) depots, three suspects were captured by the DCI Operations Support Unit (OSU).

Ali Abdi Fatah, Abdi Jabar Hussein, and Bonface Ouma Awili were nabbed at Baraka shop cereal store in Matisi market along the Kitale-Endebess road.

The operation led to the seizure of 739 bags of assorted fertilizer brands worth Sh1,847,500, destined for a neighboring country.

Brands included Falcon CAN, Tupande, Mavuno, KEL Green NPK, NPSB-OCP, DAP-OCP, FOMI OTESHA, Simba Urea, FALCON Ammonia Sulphate, and NAFAKA Plus. Delivery notes from various NCPB depots were also recovered.

Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene, securing all exhibits for investigation.

The suspects await arraignment as authentication of the delivery notes continues.
